[ Muffled, savage shouts? Lots of banging? Yes, America is trapped by the Reavers in the dead of night. He's breathing harshly, and if you care to notice, his breathing have a wet sound to it. ]

So. Good news. Found what I came here for.

[ A rattling sound resounds close to the communicator; it's obviously a pill bottle being shaken. ]

Bad news... well. Yeah.

[ He coughs. A louder bang and shout resounds, which is closely followed by a gunshot. America laughs, full of his usual confidence but somehow hollow. Maybe even a little scared. ]

Somehow, I think it'll be worse if these guys get to me than when Mexico did. I've got five rounds left. Twelve out there. And no way I'm wasting a bullet or a pill on getting outta this the easy way! [ Shouted at the Reavers, but you guys can still get an earful. ]

...All-in-all, pretty good odds in my favor! Be back at Marshall in about an hour.

[ No. He won't. A louder bang, and three successive shots before the audio buzzes out. Ten minutes will go by before he replies to anything. ]

[ That earns a sharp bark of surprise from America. You know how in all American horror movies, the teenager does something really stupid like going to investigate instead of running for their lives?

Yeah. America's living up to that stereotype. He's cautiously walking over to where Danny sank through the floor, spade still raised in the event of attack. ]

[America really should have paid more attention to those movies. Seriously, those are important life lessons.

Because just as America reaches that spot Danny cautiously pokes his head back out of the floor.]

[ SCREAMING AGAIN. And now trying to hit Danny on the head with the shovel. ]

[Danny yelps and ducks back into the floor.]

[Danny pokes his head back up a few feet away.]

[ doubled over coughing again, probably leaning against the wall for support. ]

[ clutching his spade as though it's his last lifeline ]

Look, I don't take anyone's soul. Why would I want that anyway? I don't kill people either. Not all ghosts are evil, you know.

That's what I'd expect a ghost to say! Well too bad for you, I'm already on-my-toes because of Russia!

And apparently some things never change. Great.

What d'ya mean?

[ pausing to clutch his head. ]

Man, I'm talking to a floating head on the floor. I either took something and forgot, or this is a nightmare.

Everyone always blames the ghost.

[Danny rolls his eyes and rises back out of the ground, since it seems like they've gotten past the pointless violence section of the conversation.]

Because you're super scary!

[ That may be so, but America still stumbles back a bit with a very unmanly whimper. ]

Gee, thanks a lot.

[ WHIMPER ]

Don't deny it! You're horrifying!

Now that just plain hurts.

How can it hurt?! You're dead.

Hey! Ghosts have feelings too, you know.

[ He's kinda hung up on that. ]

What does that have to do with anything?

Dead people can't have feelings! ...It's illegal! Unless you're in Heaven, but I'm pretty sure you need a passport.
